pdlc technology

Smart Film is composed of two transparent conductive ITO layers with a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) layer in between. When powered on, the electrical current aligns the liquid crystals to allow light to pass through, making the film clear. When deactivated, the liquid crystals scatter light, rendering the film opaque.

uv & irr protection

Ultraviolet (UV)

Ultraviolet radiation is invisible energy from sunlight that can cause fading and long-term damage to furniture, flooring, fabrics, and interior finishes. Luna Smart Film blocks up to 99% of UV radiation, helping protect interior materials while still allowing natural daylight to pass through the glass.

Infrared (IR) reduction

Infrared radiation carries solar heat through glass surfaces. When infrared energy enters a space, it increases indoor temperatures and contributes to solar heat gain. In simple terms; IRR refers to the heat that you feel on your skin. Smart film helps reduce infrared transmission, limiting heat build-up while maintaining visible light and supporting more comfortable indoor environments.

Electrical Specifications

Smart film operates using a low-voltage AC power supply that activates the PDLC layer within the film. It consumes minimal energy, typically around 5–6 W/m² during operation, while enabling rapid switching between transparent and frosted states within milliseconds. The system is designed for stable performance in interior glazing environments and operates reliably within temperature ranges of –15°C to 90°C.
